Got questions about our two-visit bed bug treatment?
Find answers to some of the most common questions about our professional bed bug control services, including how our treatments work, what to expect during each visit, prevention advice, safety, and any other info we think you may want to know.
Our service includes two visits, with steam treatment, professional insecticide spraying and fumigation on each visit. We inspect affected areas, target suitable hiding places and provide preparation and aftercare advice.
Bed bugs hide in small crevices, and eggs or insects may survive the initial treatment. The follow-up visit allows us to reassess activity and treat remaining bed bugs, including those that have hatched since our first visit.
Our initial service includes two visits, but additional treatments may be required. This depends on the extent of the infestation, access to hiding places and how thoroughly preparation and aftercare instructions are followed. We will explain any recommended additional work and its cost.
We will provide instructions before your appointment. Preparation generally includes reducing clutter, making affected furniture accessible and bagging bedding and clothing before moving them for laundering. Avoid moving untreated belongings into other rooms, as this can spread bed bugs.
Yes. People and pets must leave during treatment and remain out until the advised re-entry time. We will confirm how long you need to stay away and any ventilation requirements for the products used. (On average you should allow for 5 hours minimum)
Yes, with appropriate preparation and precautions. Tell us about children, pets, aquariums and any relevant health concerns before your appointment so we can plan the treatment and provide specific instructions.
Not necessarily. Many affected items can be treated. We will inspect your furniture and advise whether treatment or disposal is appropriate. Please speak to us before removing items, as moving infested furniture can spread bed bugs.
You may see some activity between visits. This does not automatically mean the treatment has failed, but it is important to report sightings so we can assess progress. Complete the treatment programme and follow the aftercare advice provided.
Follow the instructions on your treatment report. Cleaning treated surfaces too soon can remove residual insecticide and reduce its effectiveness. We will explain which areas you can clean and when to resume normal cleaning.
Please check with us before applying any additional sprays, powders or other treatments. These may interfere with the treatment programme. Tell your technician about any products you have already used.
Bed bugs can return if they are brought into the property again, or if activity remains in untreated areas or belongings. Following our advice, checking luggage and second-hand furniture, and reporting new signs promptly will help reduce the risk.
Contact SCPC for a quote based on your property and the affected areas. We will explain what the two-visit service includes and highlight any additional work or visits that may be charged separately.
Tell us what you have noticed and we will explain the next step.
