Signs Of Fleas

Look out for small, dark insects jumping in carpets or pet bedding, pets scratching more than usual, and tiny black specks in their fur. Itchy bites around the ankles and lower legs can also suggest flea activity, although bites alone cannot confirm an infestation.

Fleas commonly enter homes on cats and dogs, but can also arrive on visiting animals or infested furnishings. Eggs can fall into carpets, floor gaps and pet bedding, allowing an infestation to develop. Fleas may also remain from previous occupants, even in homes without pets.

Flea Treatment Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about our two-visit flea treatment?
Find answers to some of the most common questions about our professional flea control services, including how our treatments work, what to expect during each visit, prevention advice, safety, and any other info we think you may want to know.

Our service includes two visits, with professional insecticide spraying and fumigation on each visit. We inspect affected areas, treat suitable surfaces and provide clear preparation and aftercare advice to help bring the infestation under control.

Fleas develop through several life stages, and those protected inside cocoons may emerge after the initial treatment. The follow-up visit allows us to assess progress and treat continuing activity.

Our initial service includes two visits, but additional treatment may sometimes be needed. Results depend on the extent of the infestation, preparation, aftercare and whether pets or other sources of fleas have been addressed. We will explain any recommended additional work and its cost.

Vacuum thoroughly before treatment, including carpets, rugs, beneath furniture and along skirting boards. Empty the vacuum waste into a sealed bag and place it in an outside bin. Clear accessible floor space and wash pet bedding according to its care instructions. We will provide specific guidance before your appointment.

Yes, if your pets have fleas, they need appropriate treatment alongside treatment of the property. Speak to your vet about a suitable product for each animal. SCPC treats your premises; we do not apply flea treatments to pets.

Yes. People and pets must leave during treatment and remain out until the advised re-entry time. We will confirm how long you need to stay away and any ventilation requirements for the products used.  (On average you should allow for 5 hours minimum)

Yes, with appropriate preparation and precautions. Tell us about children, pets, aquariums and any relevant health concerns before your appointment so we can plan the treatment and provide specific instructions.

Some fleas may continue to emerge from protected cocoons after treatment, so sightings do not automatically mean it has failed. Follow the aftercare instructions and tell us about continuing activity so we can assess it at your follow-up visit.

Follow the instructions on your treatment report. Cleaning treated surfaces too soon can remove residual insecticide and reduce its effectiveness. We will explain which areas you can clean and when to resume normal cleaning.

Please check with us before applying any additional sprays, powders or other treatments. These may interfere with the treatment programme. Tell your technician about any products you have already used.

Fleas can return if an untreated animal or another source introduces them again. Addressing pet infestations with your vet, following our aftercare guidance and reporting further activity promptly will help reduce the risk.

Contact SCPC for a quote based on your property and the affected areas. We will explain what the two-visit service includes and highlight any additional work or visits that may be charged separately.
